Fissure Integrity Scoring
MedQIA has developed protocols for semi-quantitative visual assessment of fissure integrity (completeness) based on multi-planar, thin-section CT interpretation.
Computer systems have also been developed for quantitative scoring using gradient image analysis (Brown 2008). The images below show an original CT image with an incomplete left major fissure and alongside an image derived from image gradients that highlights the incomplete fissure so that it percentage completeness can be measured in three-dimensions.
