Functional Imaging in Asthma
A protocol for functional imaging and quantitative assessment of asthmatic patients was pioneered at UCLA (reference from Goldin). The protocol involves pre- and post- methacholine challenge. The histograms below acquired at functional residual capacity (FRC) show a leftward shift of the histogram post challenge that are indicative of air trapping in an asthmatic patient
